Q: Why do people buy expensive cars that are made for SPEED, that live in areas where you cant go over 65mph?
I never understood why in places like ohio, illinois, the midwest,, people buy $80,000+ cars that are speed racing cars, meant to be driven 200mph..but then they cant ever go over 15 mph over the speed limit without getting reckless driving? never understood that.

A: LOL i live in Scottsdale, AZ (Rich PPL capital) all i see is those cars. My guess is, most people are going to a mid-life crisis or they just want that make for status

Q: Does the Illinois law for front driver and passenger car windows still allow for tinting if you have a DR note?
I was just pulled over and I would really appreciate an answer from someone knowledgeable on the current Illinois law. In all seriousness I had a medium tint applied because I have trouble seeing with sun glare and bright lights at night and would like an exemption. Thanks.

A: you can do that or get special tinted windows license plates so they wont stop you

Q: What happens in illinois if you get caught with more than one person in the car.?
What happen in Illinois if you get caught with more than one person in the car within the first 6 months of having your license?

A: http://www.sos.state.il.us/departments/drivers/programs/gdl.html

Q: Should we heed Alex Jones’ warning? Troops in Illinois have done gun sweeps, checking cars and homes?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B_xBWsDpz0&feature=topvideos

A: Alex Jones has been talking about martial law saying “It’s here” for what 15 years now? But it never seems to show up. That said I don’t think we should completely ignore what he says and he is right how pathetic it is that people care about LeBron James.

Q: What do I need to buy cars at auctions?
I want to buy less then 5 cars a month. I own an auto body repair shop. I was told i need a dealers license but when I looked into it, the secretary of states office told me that i had to actually have a dealer in order to buy cars at an auction. I dont want to open a dealer, i just want to buy a couple of cars a month to keep my employees busy during slow times. Is there a different type of license to do this or any auctions where i dont need to have a dealer license that are open to the public. I live in Illinois.

A: Hi
You can get really good cheap cars from auctions , you will find thousands of different auction and repo cars of all kinds of models really cheap at http://www.carauctiondeals.com
Hope this helps

Q: Renting a pick-up to pull my vehicle from wyoming to illinois?
My car is a pile and I need enough room for my tv and mattress to move back to Illinois. Can I pull my car with a rental truck or suv and who should I call to make this happen. I’m trying to keep costs as low as possible.

A: Odds are that most places will not allow you to tow your car with their vehicle unless they also rent you a trailer to carry your car.

By the time you add up the costs of one way rentals on your car and the truck plus the extra gas you may be better off ditching some of your stuff like the mattress etc or shipping some stuff via US postal or UPS or the Grey hound and driving your car.

If your TV is old fashioned non digital you may consider really letting it go as in Feb 09 you will need a set top box to get TV stations as the tuner in it will no longer work.

If your car is not in good shape then it may be one more thing you can sell off and travel light back to Illinois.

Best of luck on the move to Illinois.

Q: How can I register a car without a title in Illinois to my name?
I want to buy a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe. There is no title to the car and I need to find out how I can get one!!!

A: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy a car without getting a CLEAR title. This is an illegal sale, and if you buy this car you’re just buying yourself a ton of problems. The seller MUST get a duplicate title BEFORE you give them any money.

Q: is my illinois auto insurance valid in the state of utah?
I Currently Live in Illinois But I’ll Be Moving Temporary to Orem Utah, from 6 mos up to 1 year, but since i know i will be coming back i was planning on keeping my current insurance and the car registered to my illinois address… but im really unaware if my insurance which covers liability in illinois will be valid in utah or not… thanks

A: It’s going to depend upon why you are moving to Utah. You may even have to get a UT driver’s license along with UT insurance.

Check with your insurance company. They can tell you the truth. You may even want to change it to UT for cheaper rates, if it is cheaper.

If you maintain a residence in IL and pay rent (or own the home), you’ll be like many snow birds here in AZ (and FL). They live here for 6 mos, then move back north for 6 mos. No changes in their driver’s license or insurance because they maintain two residences.

Q: is it illegal to sell a car without airbags in illinois but letting the buyer know?
im selling my car because i have two duis and was wondering if it was illegal to sell my car without air bags?
my friend is willing to buy it knowing the consequences if he were to get in a accident.
like what if he gets in a car accident will it come back to me?

A: It is not illegal, but in most places, you would not be able to pass the safety inspection….

Q: in illinois, can i take my car to any emission test location?
my car is registered in chicago, can i take my car to have its emission test to any location in illinois or does it have to be in the same area that it is registered in?

A: Does Cook County have a stricter emissions limit than the other counties? If so you must have it checked there, if not then anywhere in the state is OK.

I live in Los Angeles County, California , and the emissions standards here in the city areas are different than if I lived in the desert or mountains, so I have to have my car “smogged” in one of the counties with the same limits as L A County.

Q: How do I get Illinois toll violations removed?
I let a friend of mine borrow my car for a week. He has IPass and had it in my car when he went through Illinois tolls. I received a notice saying that I did not pay tolls and now they are charging me $200. I saw a notice on the toll website saying that sometimes the Ipasses will not register if it the camera sees your ipass transponder doesn’t match your license plate. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar issue like this and how they resolved it.

A: Pay them and collect the money from your friend or have your friend call them up and explain the situation but get confirmation that the fines gets dropped or you may find yourself dragged off to jail someday.

You’re actually not supposed to take the transponders from car to car though many people do. Tell your friend that he needs to read the fine print on his transponder agreement.

What happened is that the RFID doesn’t always get read and an optical plate reader is used as a backup and as a backup to that is a manual reading of the plate by a human operator. The transponder didn’t get read for some reason (going too fast, poor placement on the windshield, radio antenna embedded in windshield, poor lane position) so the optical systems were used for the billing and as you don’t have a tag, your plate did not match a valid account.

Q: I’m the only one registered (Illinois) to my car. How can I add my mom?
I need to add my mom to stay on her policy

A: You need to get the vehicle registered again in BOTH of your names or JUST in HER name so you can stay on HER policy

Q: If you are restoring a car do you have to carry insurance on the car in the state of Illinois?
Also does anyone know how old your car has to be to be licensed as an antique vehicle or what the requirements are?

A: If it’s driven or even parked on public right of way, you have to have insurance.

As to antique plates, here are the rules for Illinois:

Q. How old must a vehicle be to qualify for antique plates?
A. Motor vehicles, including motorcycles and bona fide replicas, must be more than 25 years old. Firefighting vehicles must be at least 20 years old.

Q. What is the difference between a bona fide replica and a facsimile?
A. A bona fide replica is an exact copy of the original in design, frame, and mechanical operation. A facsimile is a close, but not exact, reproduction of the original; some contemporary parts are used. Facsimiles do not qualify for antique plates.

Q. What restrictions are placed on vehicles displaying antique plates?
A. 1. The vehicles may be driven only to and from an antique auto show or exhibition, service station or demonstration.
2. The mechanical and physical condition of the vehicles, including brakes, lights, glass and appearance, must be of the same or as safe as originally equipped.

Q. What is the registration period for antique plates?
A. Plates are issued for a five year registration period, expiring on Dec. 31, 2004.

Q. What documents are needed when applying for antique plates?
A. 1. Verification of use and condition of the antique vehicle.
2. Application for title and/or registration with applicable fee and current ID card or assigned title.
If the vehicle is already titled in your name, send a copy of the title, not the original. If a title is not available, contact the Title Section to inquire about obtaining a title.

Q. May I display historical license plates on my antique vehicle?
A. Yes. Historical plates representing the model year of the vehicle may be displayed, provided the owner has valid, current antique license plates. The plates and registration card must be kept in the vehicle at all times.

Q. How many sets of antique plates may I apply for?
A. One set for each eligible antique vehicle.

Q. May I obtain antique plates if I have a vehicle currently registered with other license plates?
A. Yes. Use the date that your application was submitted to the Secretary of State to determine the fee (see fee page).

Q. May I obtain antique plates if I have a vehicle that was previously registered in another state?
A. Yes. Use the date that your application for title and registration was submitted to the Secretary of State to determine the fee (see fee page).

Q. May I obtain antique plates if I have recently purchased a vehicle?
A. Yes. Use the date of purchase to determine the fee (see fee page).

Q: Is it illegal to live in your car in the state of Illinois?
I’m going to need to live in my car for about 2 months.

A: No but you cant park on Public streets to sleep. You will need to find somewhere to park and sleep at night. I had a friend who ended up living out of his van and he would park in my driveway.

Q: Should we heed Alex Jones’ warning? Troops in Illinois have done gun sweeps, checking cars and homes?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B_xBWsDpz0&feature=topvideos

A: “Here are people by the tens of thousands begging LeBron James to stay on their team, yet these same people won’t go out and protest the looting of the Federal government, the banker-bailout or even the BP oil spill.”

It’s nothing new. The Liberal agenda of “bread and circuses” goes on and on as people are told that being intellectual means being tolerant of sin instead of informed and intolerant of a government that is slowly collapsing into a socialist state.
