Q: Are there any Wal-Mart or discount stores in Chicago?
I just moved to Chicago and I have a few questions about the city.
FYI, I'm currently staying on South King Drive with my cousin but I'm moving to N.Sheridan Rd. in two weeks.
1. Is there a Wal-Mart in Chicago?
Since I don't have a car yet, please let me know how I can get to a Wal-mart by using CTA buses or the L.
If there are more than one Wal-Mart in Chicago, please refer me to the one that is closer to South King Drive and easier to access with public transportation.
2. If you know any other huge discount stores (equivalent of Walmart) in Chicago, please let me know how I can get there.
(Also, the one closer to So.King Dr. and easier to acces by CTA)
A: This is the Walmart closest to where you are currently living:
Wal-Mart Store #5485
2500 W. 95Th St.
Evergreen Park, IL 60805
(708) 229-0611
This is the Walmart that will be closest to you when you move, the only reason why this one is the closest is because its within the city limits, but in reality its really far and not a good neighborhood:
4650 West North Ave
Chicago (W), IL 60639
(773) 252-7465
Theres this other Walmart than can be closest to you on your new place, but the problem is that its considered a suburb, there should be public transaportation available:
5630 Touhy Avenue
Niles, IL 60714
(847) 647-8641
Check out Targets Website, they have several location in the city, I think Target is your best bet once you have move to your new place.
Check out the public transportations website under the trip planner, this will give you step by step on using public transportation to and from wherever you want to go.
Q: If pictures could tell a story?
These are a few of the pictures I use to help with imagery in my story. Just by looking at them in order, what would you guess my story is about? The person who's closest to the actual plot of events wins best answer :)
And since I don't want to just give away best answer to someone who has been reading my story..I'll be tougher on them :P
So look at this pictures in order (I have placed them in order of how they appear as parts of my story) and tell me what you think my book is about (what genre and what you think happens in it):

A: The third and fourth pictures won't go on my computer, but I'd guess something along the lines of a person who lives on the farm or misses their farm. Maybe mythological by the looks of the first picture...I'd have a better guess if I could see the other two.
Q: find a man killed named lamar or lance in chicago about 5 years ago?
His name was lamar but went by the name lance he use to live in the 70's in chicago on green st. i was told he was thrown from a car on to the express way about 4 years ago. He had to be between the ages of 22 to 27. He was a friend and i was trying to see if it was any thing about it in the news so i can make sure it was him.Or can some one can tell me a way i can find this info on line some way if posilble.
A: Search Newspaper Archives like Chicago Tribune or Sun-Times.
Q: How is the transportation?
I plan on moving to Chicago this fall. I am wondering if I should take my car. Will I need it? Is public transporation used alot and by many? I have a Honda- will my car last during the very cold winters?
Thanks
A: You don't need a car but it's nice to have if you're living in a building with parking or a neighborhood with decent street parking. Not sure if you're planning to rent or buy, but in a lot of apt buildings, you have to pay from $50-$270 per month for parking. And if you're looking to buy, some buildings come with parking and others will cost you around $30k extra to buy a space. This is more common with buildings downtown. When you get away from the high-rise buildings, parking is often included or it costs much less.
Personally, I only use public transportation to go downtown for work or events where there are going to be lots of people. For getting around, grocery shopping, going to other neighborhoods, I typically drive. But you can definitely survive without a car if you live in a neighborhood that has everything that you need (shopping, restaurants, etc.).
I've lived in Chicago for eight years and my Saturn has held up fine even through the winters -- and that includes a few years when I didn't even have outdoor parking.
Q: My car door won't close. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
So it's winter in Chicago, and it's below 1 degrees outside. I had to go outside, but it was so cold that my car door froze in place. I pulled it forcefully open, but now it won't close. I think it has to do with the spring, because there used to be this tiny hook that closes in on a metal bar to secure the door, but now the hook doesn't clamp shut. Can anyone help???
A: Drive'er down here & it'll thaw in afew days. Was 68 today here in GA. =^ )
Q: i live in naperville, i want to get to chicago, by train, wich train do i use?
i dont have a car...
A: You need to go to the train station located on 105 E. 4th St. There you will need to take the Metra, which is on the BNSF line. DO NOT take an Amtrak downtown from Naperville. Both companies (Amtrak & Metra) have an agreement about making people take a Metra if they are not transferring to another Amtrak. Let me warn you ahead of time that parking there is a pain in the @ss. Either have a parking pass or get there later than 9:00 am to pay a $1.00 fee.
You can check the train schedule at the following link:

Q: what kind of oil should i use in my 1998 audi a6 2.8 quattro?

A: 5/30 is but 10/30 will work. Mobil 1 is always a plus. Make sure what ever you use it meets VW/Audi standards for 1998. API-SJ, API-SL, API-SM
Q: Are you happy for those in Chicago that can finally protect themselves from the Obama supporters?
Reporting from Washington —
The Supreme Court reversed a ruling upholding Chicago's ban on handguns Monday and extended the reach of the 2nd Amendment as a nationwide protection against laws that infringe on the "right to keep and bear arms."
The 5-4 decision appears to void the 1982 ordinance, one of the nation's strictest, which barred city residents from having handguns for their own use, even at home.

At least two weekends in a row have been marred by multiple killings. For many Chicagoans, the breaking point was last Wednesday, when a 20-month-old girl was shot in the head while in a parked car on the South Side. The alleged gunman, who turned himself in, was reportedly aiming for the girl’s father.
As of last Sunday, Chicago tallied 113 homicides for 2010, compared with 101 for the same period last year.

Chicago has MORE homicides than a WAR ZONE on a DAILY basis, oh did I mention that is where Obama calls "home"
A: "The 5-4 decision..."
One vote separates us from liberal enslavement.
Q: Owning a motorcycle in Chicago?
I'm thinking about going to Moody Bible Institute, and would also really like to get a motorcycle, but I'm not sure if that would be smart. I'm guessing that riding a motorcycle in the city wouldn't be fun, so I'd probably just use it for longer trips. Do you think it's a good idea to own a motorcycle in any big city, and Chicago in particular? Would I be able to manuever in traffic within the city more or less easily than if I had a car?
Another similar question is, since I'm a young girl would it be safe for me? It's not like a car where you can lock your doors.
Thanks for your help!
A: that place is close to where the Cabrini green site was. it's still a bad part of town to get caught in. a scooter is OK for the north side but you have to pay someone to let you store it somewhere. A larger motorcycle is tough to store on the north side. public transportation is pretty good though.
Q: Smoking ban Chicago, are your eyes open?
Are we being purposely being misled or this ban just a sick coincidental display of how dumb our government leaders truly are? Case in point- the smoking ban in public places (i.e. bars and restaurants which serve alcohol). Where are their heads? Are you kidding?!
In U.S. (2006), 17,602 people died in alcohol-related crashes (one every 30 minutes) – 41% of the 42,642 total traffic fatalities. Three in every ten Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives. Approximately 1.4 million drivers were arrested in 2004 for driving under the influence. That’s 1 for every 139 licensed driver. Alcohol-related crashes in the US cost the public an $114.3 billion in 2000, including $51.1 billion in monetary costs and an estimated $63.2 billion in quality of life losses. People other than the drinking driver paid $71.6 billion of the alcohol-related crash bill, which is 63 percent of the total cost of these crashes. Alcohol is a mood altering drug which may include increased aggressive/abusive behavior, impaired judgment concerning sexual promiscuity, and the use of protection to reduce the spread of STD’s. Each year, up to 40,000 babies are born with some degree of alcohol-related damage. These include mental retardation; learning, emotional and behavioral problems; and defects involving the heart, face and other organs.
Each year in Chicago (pop. 2,898,374) there are 598 murders, 4078 forcible rapes, 17,302 robberies, 19,784 aggravated assaults, 25,064 burglaries, 96,779 larceny or thefts, 22,779 car thefts, and 947 arsons.
You’re more likely to be raped, murdered, robbed or assaulted than you are to die from 2nd hand smoke. Complain about something real!!
A: Actually the anti smoking movement was started by the Nazis. They were the first to use bogus studies and etc to force people to bend to their will. It is odd how some people see this as good since it is destroying the rights of the people. I suppose the Nazis saw the Jews disappearing and thought it was good to.
Q: Help! We are going to Chicago this weekend & need a large suv?
Okay so this weekend we are going to chicago to pick up some priceless antiques. I will not ship it. It is an antique large table lamp, 2 end tables, and a large about 5 foot by 3 foot painting, and I went to enterprise and I need a large suv at the least, and they want $150 a day and we are leaving saturday and they are closed sunday and monday, so we have to take it back tuesday, and they wont give us a discount bcuz labor day or whatever day it is. and it has to be this weekend only. what is the cheapest car rental place in woodriver,il or near there, i really need a large suv, is there a way to get discounts? the co manager said no. - and im not going on craigslist & we dont no anybody around here with a large suv, and a van, the gas would be to expensive. i dont really want a van, but i would take it if its cheaper than an suv. and i will not take a truck bcuz i would end up with things broken. and i cant fit 4 people comfortable on a 6 or 7 hour trip. i tried amtrak- they dont take furniture or fragile & its too expensive. and i wont go on craigslist bcuz this is also a family relaxing trip. please give me answers i can use.
A: You limited your options by travelling with your family on a holiday weekend, and asking for advice three days before you intend to leave. It might cost you less to lose pay on a workday, pick up a truck on a Thursday morning, drive down by yourself, load the truck, take a nap, and drive back late Thursday night. Return the truck Friday morning.
Q: Can I have my husband deported if I discover he used me for a green card?
My husband and I have been married for less than two years and in this time I have found some very disturbing things about our relationship. Like he lies and puts profiles on internet advertising that he is looking for a woman. He chats online and has quit jobs making me pay for things and telling me not to pay my credit cards. He has dragged me all over the country so I can never keep a steady job. I moved with him to Chicago and I got sick with bronchitis and he refused medical treatment for me but was able to afford a 42 inch flat screen tv. He would not help me with my car payments and just told me to call the bank and have it taken away. My credit is shot and I no longer have a vehicle. Now he refuses to give me any money since I have moved to a new city and have been struggling to find a job in this terrible economy. He has also become verbally and physically abusive a little everyday. I just want to know if he is still in this conditional green card status is there any thing I can do? Oh and by the way, he is not destitude in any way. He makes $80,000.00 a year now thanks to my stupidity!
A: Divorce him, report the deception to the USCIS and don't sign any paper when he will file for Removal of Conditions with his green. He will not be able to renew his green card and will face deportation if he will stay beyond his present green card validity.

Q: Isn't just waiting in line for 30+ minutes to pay a toll pretty much just contributing to pollution, etc, et?
I waited at LEAST 30 minutes to pay a toll in Chicago and I couldn't see an upside to this fiasco whatsoever. First it contributes to: polluting the environment (ie: 1,000's of cars just sitting there idling for long periods of times), road rage, near missed accidents, waste of gasoline which is supposedly in high demand right now and sky high gas prices. I just don't undestand this at all maybe because I don't live in the Chicago area but it's like we are being punished while having to wait to pay a toll. Isn't there a better way?? And, no, noone hardly at all uses the ipass. 99.9% of the cars had to pay cash like me. Why doesn't Chicago (and other citiies) try and alleviate these needless things instead of aggrevating these things?
Does anyone feel like me!!!!???
A: i agree completly .. they really need to speed up the process of this because countless cars waste alot of fuel waiting to pay a toll and sometimes all the ipass lanes are shut..it was better when all the toll roads had booths in each lane,,and there was someone wrking in each one most of the time
Q: what midtown madness games do you prefer?
out of all the midtown madness games out there, i think the 1st one was the best one out of them all. i liked the inside cab views of the cars, they had a brillant selection of cars to choose from. graphics were good for the day (2000) also the city ( chicago) was a good desitnation to choose from.
I though Midotwn Madness 2 was quite good. had a good selection of cars and nice interiors of them cars aswell. the cicites they had chosen to use which was london and san fracnsico was okay. even though there are better cities out there. graphics for this game are average even though they could of been better.
The 3rd midtown madness game was goo, had good graphics, nice selection of cars. down sides though were they got rid of the cab interiors so you didnt feel the realism anymore aand the cities they had chosen for the game were crap.
A: yes i agree.............................
have you heard of grand turismo for ps3, full 1080p resilution high def, fantastic graphics!!! real life cars and vibrent colors!!!
